Cuban-American actor and former Dancing with the Stars contestant William Levy was arrested on Monday night in Miami after allegedly causing a public disturbance at a restaurant. The 44-year-old telenovela heartthrob now faces two misdemeanor charges, including disorderly intoxication and trespassing.
William Levy Arrested After Alleged Drunken Disturbance at Miami Bar
Police were called to a bar and grill in Broward County just after 10 p.m. on Monday following complaints of a disorderly guest. According to reports from TMZ, William Levy was arrested at the scene after allegedly refusing to leave the establishment despite repeated requests from management.
Witnesses said Levy appeared visibly intoxicated and was causing a scene inside the restaurant. Once officers observed his refusal to comply, he was taken into custody and booked at the Broward County jail.
Charges Filed: What William Levy Is Accused Of
As of now, William Levy is facing two misdemeanor charges:
- Disorderly intoxication in a public place
- Trespassing on occupied property
The actor spent the night behind bars before being released late Tuesday on a $500 bond.
William Levy Gives His Side: “I Tried to Stay Calm”
Upon his release, William Levy addressed his arrest in a statement to reporters waiting outside. According to a video shared by journalist Maria Fernanda Lopez, the Resident Evil: The Final Chapter actor said he was simply “having a drink” with a friend from his recreational baseball team when things escalated.
“They started arguing with another guy,” Levy explained. “I stepped in to break it up. And I’m the one who ended up in handcuffs.”
When pressed about the trespassing charge, Levy replied, “Well, they had to take me in for something,” denying rumors of a physical confrontation with any staff member.
Not William Levy’s First Run-In With the Law
This isn’t the first time William Levy has had legal troubles. In April 2024, People en Español revealed police had responded to Levy and his partner Elizabeth Gutiérrez’s South Florida residence four times in the past year. The nature of those incidents remains unclear.
