Lucasfilm Confirms Star Wars: Starfighter Starring Ryan Gosling for 2027 Release

Ryan Gosling Officially Joins Star Wars: Starfighter

After months of rumors, Lucasfilm has officially announced Star Wars: Starfighter, with Ryan Gosling stepping into a galaxy far, far away. Directed by Shawn Levy, the film will introduce a brand-new story and fresh characters to the Star Wars universe.

The announcement was made at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni shared the news during a livestream. Ryan Gosling and Shawn Levy also made surprise appearances, meeting fans for the first time as part of the Star Wars family.

Speaking to a thrilled crowd, Gosling said,

“Feeling the love and passion in this room reminds me why Star Wars is so powerful. Today, it’s clear: the force is the fans. We just hope we can do it justice.”

Director Shawn Levy added,

“We grew up loving these stories. Now, with Star Wars: Starfighter, we have a chance to create something new while honoring the legacy we all love.”


What to Expect from Star Wars: Starfighter After ‘The Rise of Skywalker’

Star Wars: Starfighter will take place about five years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, the 2019 movie that closed the Skywalker saga.

This new film will explore a completely different storyline with new characters, opening the door to fresh adventures in the Star Wars galaxy.
So far, Lucasfilm has not confirmed any other cast members, but with Ryan Gosling leading the way, excitement is already sky-high.
