Israeli Military Launches Massive Airstrikes in Gaza, Escalating Tensions and Threatening Ceasefire
Dozens of Targets Hit as Ceasefire Talks Collapse, Hostage Situation Worsens
The Israeli military launches massive airstrikes in Gaza, marking one of the deadliest assaults since the ceasefire took effect earlier this year. According to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry, at least 330 people were killed in the strikes, with many victims reported as children. However, the figures did not specify how many casualties were civilians or Hamas militants.

The strikes, described by Israel as “extensive”, targeted multiple areas across the Gaza Strip — from the north to the south — hitting Hamas infrastructure, leadership compounds, and mid-level commanders. Israel warned that the offensive could intensify and potentially involve ground forces if necessary.
The escalation comes as ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas stalled. Supported by the United States, Israel has been pressing for the release of hostages still held by Hamas. However, Hamas has refused, demanding assurances it can maintain control in Gaza once the conflict ends.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office blamed Hamas for the collapse of the truce, accusing the group of rejecting multiple proposals, including offers from former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff.
“From this point forward, Israel will respond to Hamas with increased military force,” Netanyahu’s office stated, holding Hamas responsible for the renewed violence.
Hamas condemned the strikes, claiming Israel had violated the ceasefire terms and left the fate of 59 hostages uncertain. Reports suggest that 24 hostages, including one American citizen, are still believed to be alive inside Gaza.
A White House spokesperson confirmed that Israel consulted with U.S. officials before launching the airstrikes. “Hamas had the option to release hostages and extend the ceasefire but chose escalation instead,” said spokesperson Brian Hughes.
