Wong’s tennis career began unexpectedly at the age of five. When his sister Elana fell ill and missed her scheduled private lesson at Victoria Park—the venue for the Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open—Wong stepped in. What started as a casual session turned into a lifelong passion.

“I was a bit chubby and out of shape, so tennis began as a way to keep fit. Slowly, it became my passion,” Wong recalled.
