X (Formerly Twitter) Faces Widespread Outage in Multiple Countries:

On Monday, X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, experienced a significant global outage that left thousands of users unable to access or use the app. The disruption affected several nations, including India, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

According to Downdetector, a website that tracks online service disruptions, approximately 2,000 users in India, 18,000 in the US, and 10,000 in the UK reported problems. Users were unable to post, view tweets, or log into their accounts. Those who were already logged in saw a message reading, “Something went wrong, try reloading.”

The majority of the reported issues were related to the app (60%), with 35% of complaints tied to the website and 5% related to server connection problems. Large cities such as New York and Los Angeles in the US, as well as London and Birmingham in the UK, were particularly affected by the outage.

Despite the widespread disruption, X has not yet issued an official statement regarding the cause of the issue or provided a timeline for when the platform would be fully restored.

User Reactions and Competition from Threads:

As the outage continued, many users took to Threads, Meta’s competing platform, to express their frustration. One user joked, “Users running to Twitter to tweet Twitter is down #TwitterDown.” Another shared, “Twitter was down for like 30 minutes and I felt my world collapsing.”

Some users took the opportunity to point out the rise of Threads, with one commenting, “X (Twitter) is down. Congratulations to Threads on millions of new users today.” Another added, “Is X/Twitter down for y’all? I hate being here,” with crying face emojis.

X Under Elon Musk’s Ownership:

Since Elon Musk’s $44 billion acquisition of Twitter in 2022, the platform has undergone a major transformation. Musk rebranded the service to X and launched X Corp to manage it, replacing Twitter Inc. The rebrand was part of Musk’s vision to turn X into a super app offering a variety of services.

Under Musk’s leadership, the platform has introduced several premium features, such as the ability to edit tweets, post longer videos, and share content up to 25,000 characters. While X continues to offer a free version, users can subscribe to one of three premium tiers, priced at £3/month, £8/month, and £31/month.

As of now, X has not provided any official explanation for the outage or any estimated time for its resolution.
